Between Waukegan and Chicago

Virginia Lake is a small reservoir located just 1.6 miles from Palatine, in Cook County, in the state of Illinois. Several smaller lakes are surrounding Virginia Lake in the nearby residential areas. This reservoir is mostly used as a scenic part of the neighborhood.

Virginia Lake is just under an hour’s drive from the busy city of Chicago and around 45 minutes from Waukegan. Both give visitors access to the rolling shores of Lake Michigan.

A lesser-known city in Illinois compared to its larger counterpart Chicago, Waukegan is a few miles drive from Virginia Lake. Nearby is Six Flag of Great America, an amusement park with roller coasters, games, and fun events.
